VISA regulations for students or student exchange visa ( AFS/ROTARY/ COINED/ YFU) for courses up to 12 months

OPTION A) As Austrian/Slovak/Slovenian citizen you may enter the country in the migratory category of “tourist” for a maximum stay of 3 months (90 days). You must submit your application before the Argentine immigration authorities (the so-called DNM - Dirección Nacional de Migraciones) and make the change of migratory category within the first 30 days upon your arrival for what you must submit the following documents (this migratory change is only required if your course will exceed the allowed 90 days stay):

1. Birth Certificate: Multilingual extract (so-called "International Birth Certificate") from the register of births (in the original), certified with Apostille
2. Applicants over 16 years: Criminal Record of the country of origin and of the country in which he / she was a resident for over 6 months in the last 5 years:
2.1. Current criminal record authenticated with Apostille (original)
2.2. Translation of criminal record provided in Spanish by a certified translator also authenticated with the Apostille
3. Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
4. 2 passport photos (EU passport norms)
5. Exchange student (s) who are minors at entry (under 18 years) need a travel permit from their parents. This document must be signed by each of the parents or legal guardians. The same can be made directly at the consulate. The cost of the travel permit is of 50.00 Euro.
The following data are required:
   * First name and surname of the contact person (host families) in Argentina
   * The Argentine identity card number
   * And full address in Argentina

OPTION B) if you want to apply for a visa for the whole length of your stay prior to travel or you need a visa due to your nationality, you must meet the following requirements:

To obtain a student or student exchange visa for Argentina (valid for up to 12 months) the following documents must be submitted to this Consular Section:

1. Completed visa application form (form available on Consular)
2. Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
3. 1 passport photo
4. Minors under 18 have to be accompanied with the parents and exhibit a birth Certificate: Multilingual extract (so-called "International Birth Certificate") from the register of births (in the original), certified with Apostille
5. Applicants over 16 years: Criminal Record of the country of origin and of the country in which he / she was a resident for over 6 months in the last 5 years:
the country of origin or the country where he / she was the last 5 years a resident:
  5.1. Current criminal record authenticated with Apostille (original)
  5.2. Translation of criminal record provided in Spanish by a certified translator also authenticated with the Apostille
6. Date of entry into Argentina, reservation of flight tickets.
7. Copy of the enrollment in the school, university or institution in Argentina (“Precarga de Datos Electrónica”).
8. Entry Permit (Permiso de Ingreso) issued by the Immigration Authority (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones). The student exchange organization must first request an entry permit (Permiso de Ingreso) at the Argentinean immigration office (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones). The consulate is then informed over an online system if the entry permit has been granted.
9. Exchange student (s) who are minors at entry (under 18 years) need a travel permit from their parents. This document must be signed by each of the parents or legal guardians. The same can be made directly at the consulate. The cost of the travel permit is of 50.00 Euro.
10. Costs of the visa: 150,00EUR
The following data are required:
   * First name and surname of the contact person (host families) in Argentina
   * The Argentine identity card number
   * And full address in Argentina

2. Issuing travel permits (Venia de Viaje) for minors (under 18)

It is necessary for both parents to come personally to an appointment at the consulate in order to issue the travel permit for the minor.
The required documents are:
- Birth Certificate: Multilingual extract (so-called "International Birth Certificate") from the register of births (in the original), certified with Apostille. Original certificate must be presented, but will not be retained.
- Valid passports of both parents as well as of the minor
- An appointment at the consulate is necessary.
